About Us
The Buffalo Master Chorale (BMC) is the adult choir of Buffalo Niagara Choirs and an auditioned ensemble of experienced volunteer and professional singers from across the region. Founded in 2012, the Chorale brings together individuals from diverse backgrounds who share a deep commitment to choral excellence, artistic growth, and community engagement.
Under the artistic leadership of Jaman E. Dunn-Danger, Artistic Director, the Buffalo Master Chorale presents performances that are expressive, thoughtfully programmed, and rooted in both musical rigor and emotional connection. The Chorale is known for its versatility and curiosity, embracing a wide-ranging repertoire that reflects the breadth of the choral art form.
As Artistic Director, Jaman E. Dunn-Danger provides a clear artistic vision that balances technical excellence with storytelling and relevance. His leadership emphasizes disciplined musicianship, collaborative rehearsal practices, and performances that invite audiences into meaningful musical experiences. Through innovative programming and a commitment to artistic depth, the Chorale continues to evolve while honoring the choral tradition.
The Buffalo Master Chorale Continued
The Chorale’s repertoire spans chamber and choral-symphonic works, opera, music by living composers, gospel, popular music, and newly commissioned pieces. This diversity of programming allows singers to grow artistically while offering audiences concerts that are both inspiring and accessible.

The Buffalo Master Chorale conducts auditions on a continuing basis.

The Buffalo Master Chorale
Jaman E. Dunn-Danger - Artistic Director
Jaman E. Dunn-Danger is a queer African American multidisciplinary orchestral conductor, vocalist, and instrumentalist. A Chicago native, they currently reside in Buffalo, New York where they serve as faculty in both the vocal and orchestral fields at SUNY University at Buffalo, as well as the Artistic Director of Buffalo Master Chorale. They are also active as a guest conductor, guest soloist, and clinician.
Mx. Dunn-Danger began their musical studies at the age of eight, starting with violin and adding viola at age seventeen. They began conducting informally at age twelve, with academic studies to begin in high school. To become a more well-rounded musician, they received a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance at The Ohio State University, under Dr. C. Andrew Blosser.
They then earned a Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting, under the instruction of Maestro Bruce Hangen at The Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
Mx. Dunn-Danger’s past professional accomplishments include being the former Assistant Conductor of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra (2018-2022), Guest Conductor with Dance Theater of Harlem (2022), and Guest Conductor with Buffalo Opera Unlimited (2021 & 2022). In addition, they have maintained an active vocal career as a baritone in both oratorio and operatic repertoire.

Dunn-Danger’s approach is to make music accessible for everyone, regardless of skill level or background. They spend a large portion of their time giving back to the community through various master classes, workshops, and teaching positions. Additionally, they are actively committed to promoting musicians from traditionally under-represented backgrounds.
Outside of their professional career, Mx. Dunn-Danger spends their days with their wife and dogs enjoying all the beauty and wonder that New York State has to offer.

Alan Spring, PhD - Accompanist
Alan Spring moved from the Tenor section to the Accompanist’s bench for the 2023-2024 season.
A lifelong Western New Yorker, Alan studied piano from age five, and began accompanying for churches and schools in Niagara County while in junior high school. While completing his B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Rochester, he took advantage of private piano study at the Eastman School of Music. While completing his Ph.D. in American Studies and teaching at the University of Iowa, he spent several years as multi-instrumentalist with a local rock band.
Upon returning to Western New York, balancing a corporate career in digital technology leadership, Alan served organist, pianist, and accompanist at several churches in Niagara and Erie counties, including Williamsville United Methodist. Since 2021, he has been organist & accompanist at First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown.
